The two-piece energy-absorbing shell is lined with EPP foam to protect the head and body, providing maximum side-impact protection and airflow between the layers of the seat.

Energy Absorbing Metal Load Leg
The 13-position metal load leg can be easily adjusted to fit in any seating position, even the centre seat where there is often a hump on the floor. Its designed to increase stability and significantly reduces the risk of injury in the event of a collision.
The Clek Liing infant seat has undergone rigorous dynamic crash testing, including:
- Compliance testing which is federally required and represents 98% of all real-world crashes
- NCAP testing which simulates forces experienced in extreme crashes
- Side-impact and other extensive due-care testing which tests conditions outside of compliance testing, such as structural integrity for maximum occupant weight and various installation positions, the effect of extreme temperatures, misuse conditions, etc.
The Federal Government has established dynamic performance (crash testing) criteria that all Child Restraint Systems are required to meet. These criteria are used to assess the probability of injury.
Shown below are the independent results of the forces measured during FMVSS213 crash testing for LATCH (UAS) installation using the load leg.
- Head Injury Criteria (HIC) is used to assess the probability of a head injury. HIC is determined using the resultant acceleration at the center of gravity of the head. The threshold limit is 1000.
- Chest Acceleration is measured in Gs and is used to assess the probability of a chest injury. The threshold limit is 60 Gs.
What is a Load Leg?
The Load Leg is a standard component of every Liing base. Snapping into the bottom of the base when not in use, the metal Load Leg is adjustable in length and features a pressure indicator on the bottom to demonstrate when proper contact with the vehicle floor is achieved.
The Load Leg provides extra protection by limiting downward rotation in a collision, which in turn limits rebound movement as well. The reduction in movement that occurs, combined with the properties of the Load Leg, results in up to a 40% reduction in injury measurements.
